Pioneer Aviation have also become sole agents for UK sales of Avtek Propellers.  Avtek is an Italian company who produce a number of aviation products including a range of On Ground/In Flight Variable Pitch Propellers.

The Pioneer 300 uses the in flight variable pitch propeller which offers significant improvements in take off roll, climb rate and top speed over the fixed pitch options.

The 2/3 composite blade propellers have an alloy hub, in which a hydraulic mechanism adjusts the pitch of the blade via a rotating joint.  Hydraulic pressure is provided by a pump unit which is driven by an electric motor.  The latter is controlled by a switch in cockpit.  The blade pitch adjustment runs on radial needle roller bearings and adjustable stops are provided within the propeller hub to restrict min and max pitch limits.  A blue LED in cockpit indicates fully fine pitch.
